How to mozzie proof your caravan

How to mozzie proof your caravan

There is nothing worse than pulling up to a gorgeous spot in your caravan and immediately being swarmed by mosquitoes! Today we're going to show you how to mozzie proof your caravan to keep yourself safe and bite-free throughout the night.

1. Check your fly screens before you leave

During the warmer months you're going to want to keep your van windows open so take a few minutes to do a careful once-over of all the windows in your van before you leave. If there are any rips or holes, pop out the frames and replace them with a fresh fly screen. If you don't have time, make a note to keep that window closed so you don't wake up to unwelcome biters in your bed!

2. Deter the mosquitoes from entering your caravan

As much as you try to keep your caravan doors closed, it's inevitable that some mozzies will slip in! Mozzie coils just outside the door are a popular option but you're not protecting from the inside out. Using a mosquito deterrent inside your caravan is a great way to keep your van mozzie free. Obviously mozzie coils and citronella candles are a major fire hazard inside the van so are out of the question. But diffusing an essential oil blend that the mosquitoes hate is a great way to keep them at bay!

Good Riddance Essential Oil to keep mozzies out of caravan

Good Riddance Tropical Essential Oil is great for helping keep mozzies out of your caravan

Good Riddance Tropical Essential Oil is the same blend of essential oils we use in our Tropical Insect Repellent and is a great option for diffusing inside your van. There are plenty of 12v or rechargeable diffusers on the market to keep you safe from the mozzies, even when you go off the grid. Just pop a few drops of the oil inside your diffuser with the recommended amount of water. Start diffusing before sunset as this is when the mozzies will be the worst. Try to position your diffuser near the door for maximum effect.

3. Use personal mosquito protection

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, one mosquito will find its way into your van in the middle of the night. The best way to deal with this is to use a personal insect repellent. Most repellents are sticky, smelly and the last thing you want to be applying before bed. But not Good Riddance Insect Repellent! Good Riddance was designed to feel like a light-weight moisturiser. It will hydrate your skin while keeping you safe from bites. When you're heading to bed, we recommend our Good Riddance Sensitive Insect Repellent. It has a beautiful lavender-based smell which is relaxing and great for sleep!
