The Good Riddance story
I’m Jeannie, and I created Good Riddance for my family while living in Darwin on our travels around Australia.

My two young boys were big mozzie magnets so I was applying repellent on them multiple times a day. I wanted a gentler alternative to DEET but wasn’t happy with the natural options available.
I found the natural repellents we tried didn’t work for very long, felt greasy and smelt awful.
In 2011 I completed a Diploma in Personal Care Formulation so I could create a safe, effective repellent that my family was happy to use every day.
I spent two years testing and refining our products with local fishermen in the most mozzie and midge-prone areas of the Top End, including Kakadu.

Our two natural insect repellents provide long lasting protection, smell amazing, and feel nice on your skin, even in the tropics.
My husband Sean and I launched Good Riddance Insect Repellents at the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets in Darwin in 2014.
Our sales quickly grew through word of mouth. We built an online store, scaled up our manufacturing capacity and now have over 800 stockists around Australia.
In 2018 we undertook extensive clinical trials to confirm the efficacy, safety and shelf-life of our insect repellent and register our products with the APVMA.
I am very proud to say that our natural insect repellents stand up to any other DEET-filled insect repellents on the market.
The Good Riddance journey is interwoven with a deep commitment to preserving the environment and its inhabitants. In 2020 we joined forces with 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of all sales to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.
We have proudly donated over $37,000 to date. This contribution fosters conservation efforts, safeguarding Australia’s unique biodiversity.
Good Riddance is still a family-owned business, now based in Melbourne with a team of 13, working across manufacturing, dispatch, sales and marketing.
