What plants repel mosquitoes?
We love to use the superpowers of plants to naturally repel mosquitoes – and there are plenty of them out there to get the job done.
Some of our favourite mosquito repelling plants are:
- Citronella (it’s the active ingredient cymbopogan spp in our natural insect repellent)
- Lemon Tea Tree
- Basil
These plants are a fantastic choice to plant in the garden if you’re looking to reduce the number of mosquitoes hanging around.
They’re also beautifully fragrant and lovely to have around as a subtle way to make your outdoor spaces more useable.
To really make the mozzies feel unwelcome, you can remove the things that attract them in the first place.
Mozzies are attracted to plants like water hyacinths, water lilies, taro and papyrus, and love standing water.
Remove these things from the area and mosquitoes are less likely to want to spend time there – and if they’re not there, they can’t bite you!
So, now you know what plants repel mosquitoes, but don't forget that for proper protection, you should always choose a product that has been clinically tested and proven to protect you from the mozzies. If you love plant-based products, check out our range of natural insect repellents here.
