Meet The Founder

““Living in Darwin, I hated spraying heavy duty insect repellent all over myself and my kids every day.

I decided to ditch the DEET and try every natural option out there.

Sadly, nothing worked well enough for Darwin's relentless conditions.

Determined to protect my family naturally, I studied cosmetic chemistry for 2 years and spent another 2 years testing my formulas with Kakadu fishermen in Australia's toughest climates.

After 37 different formulas, I finally perfected two repellents that actually work, are safe for everyone and wonderful to use.

Today, we're still a small family business with a clear mission: helping Aussie families rediscover the joy of the outdoors, naturally protected and DEET-free."

- Jeannie Lynch

Why Good Riddance is Different

Redefining Insect Repellent
As a cosmetic chemist and mum, Jeannie created what others couldn't – a repellent that's safe, feels luxurious, and actually works. Using only high-quality natural ingredients, Good Riddance is the first repellent you'll love wearing.
Our Cream Creates a Stronger Barrier
Unlike sprays, our cream encapsulates pure essential oil actives, locking them onto your skin. This forms a longer-lasting protective shield against mosquitoes, midges & sandflies. The luxurious formula moisturises as it protects, making application a pleasure – no sticky residue, no greasy feeling, just effective protection that feels and smells amazing.
Natural Repellent that Actually Works!
Jeannie wouldn't put anything on her family that wasn't 100% safe and natural. After years of testing in Australia's harshest conditions and securing clinical approval, Good Riddance proves that effective protection doesn't require harmful chemicals. Every ingredient is natural, safe for children, yet tough enough for the Top End – so your family can enjoy the outdoors with complete peace of mind.
Good for You
Good Riddance nourishes your skin with ingredients you can trust: organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, beeswax, and jojoba oil – hydrating as they protect. Unlike harsh repellents that dry and damage, our formula is proudly free from toxic chemicals and alcohol. Just pure, natural protection that's actually good for your skin.

After years of success with Darwin locals, we took the next step – official testing with Australia's repellent regulator, the APVMA. No more wondering if natural protection will actually work – Good Riddance is officially proven and backed by science.

Mosquito Borne Viruses

Do Good Riddance repellents repel Mosquitoes, midges & sandflies that carry diseases?

Mosquitoes can carry diseases like Ross River virus and Dengue fever - which can have detrimental impacts on your health. But, not all insect repellents are proven to protect against these disease carrying mosquitoes.

Good Riddance Insect Repellents have passed specific clinical testing on its efficacy against disease carrying mosquitoes by the APVMA - Australia’s government body for insect repellents. Both repellents are proven to effectively repel mosquitoes, midges and sandflies, including those that carry Ross River and Dengue viruses.

Where are these mosquito-borne diseases?

Ross River virus is the most common mosquito-borne disease in Australia, found most commonly in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Dengue fever is most commonly found in places like Bali - Indonesia, Asia, Africa and South America.

You shouldn’t risk it - Choose Good Riddance to keep your family naturally protected from disease carrying mosquitoes.

Many of our customers use our Tropical repellent on their dogs to repel mosquitoes, midges, or sandflies by applying a small amount behind their ears and on their undercarriage, which is the main area where dogs are bitten. For dogs with particularly sensitive skin, we recommend using the Sensitive repellent, as it contains less-irritating essential oils suitable for sensitive skin. The Rescue Balm can also be used as a spot treatment on dogs to help relieve itch and inflammation caused by insect bites. We have received glowing reviews about the effectiveness of our range for dogs, and it has been stocked by a pet store in Darwin called “Aussie Pooch” for nearly five years without any adverse reactions.

Do you test your products on animals?

We are passionate advocates for animal protection and only include ingredients certified by Choose Cruelty Free to guarantee that our ingredients have never been tested on animals. The Good Riddance Tropical and Sensitive Insect Repellents have both undergone clinical and field trials where they were tested (on humans) to see if they repel mosquitoes and midges. We also test our repellents on mozzies, midges & sandflies (to determine its efficacy), and unfortunately they classify these as testing on animals. Otherwise, no.

Why do insect repellents need to be registered by the APVMA?

In Australia, all insect repellents must be approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). The APVMA is an Australian government regulatory body who manage the registration of all agricultural and veterinary chemical products in Australia. All insect repellents for human use, including chemical-based products and natural plant-based alternatives, like Good Riddance, are required by law to be registered with the APVMA before they can be sold in Australia. Products approved by the APVMA have been scientifically assessed as safe and effective.
